A minimally invasive interventional radiology technique called ovarian vein embolization is used to treat pelvic venous disorders like Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. A catheter is inserted into the leg or neck vein through a tiny incision, and it is then directed to the ovarian veins that are malfunctioning. Once in place, embolic agents such as plugs, sclerosing foam, or tiny metallic coils are released to stop blood flow in the abnormal veins.
