A minimally invasive medical technique called uterine artery embolization (UAE) is used to treat uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, postpartum hemorrhage and other disorders that result in irregular uterine bleeding. A catheter is inserted into an artery (typically the femoral or radial artery) and guided to the uterine arteries by an interventional radiologist.
